Studies have found that UV and visible light from 380nm to 470nm can cause a decrease in melatonin production in a two hour span just before bedtime.  During this period of time, normal body function leads to an increase in melatonin, which makes us naturally drowsy.  Blue light has been found to interrupt this natural build-up of melatonin.  By wearing HDRx Blue Filter eyeglasses, one can cut down on the harmful blue light that is disturbing the melatonin build up.  Some patients have even found they are able to cut back or eliminate taking oral sleep aids.  If you take a prescription sleep aid, consult with your doctor before making regimen changes.  Also, some patients have found that wearing HDRx Blue Filters on the computer can help reduce eyestrain and fatigue associated with ultraviolet and blue light.
